Following the success of last year’s roundtable in London, the UK Tsinghua Association and Schwarzman Scholars are proud to co-host their 2nd Global Forum on May 16, 2025, at Chatham House.

Peter Trubowitz is Professor of International Relations and Director of the Phelan US Centre at the London School of Economics and Political Science and Associate Fellow at Chatham House, Royal Institute of International Affairs. His main teaching and research interests are in the fields of international security and comparative foreign policy, with special focus on American grand strategy and foreign policy. He also writes and comments frequently on U.S. party politics and elections and how they shape and are shaped by America’s changing place in the world.

 

His publications include Geopolitics and Democracy: The Western Liberal Order from Foundation to Fracture (Oxford 2023),  Politics and Strategy: Partisan Ambition and American Statecraft (Princeton University Press, 2011) and Defining the National Interest: Conflict and Change in American Foreign Policy (University of Chicago Press, 1998), as well as articles in scholarly journals such as International Security, International Studies Quarterly, and Political Science Quarterly and more popular venues like Foreign Affairs, Le Grand Continent, and The National Interest.

Prof. Dr. HUANG Jing is University Professor and Director of Center for American and Pacific Studies at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU),founding partner of Transcend Consulting. Before joining SISU, Prof. Huang was University Professor and Dean (Academic Affairs) of the Institute of International and Regional Studies at Beijing Language and Culture University (2018-2021),the Lee Foundation Professoron US-China Relations and Director of Centre on Asia and Globalization of the LKY School of Public Policy at National University of Singapore (2008-2018), Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution (2004-2008), Shorenstein Fellow at Stanford University (2002-2003), and Associate Professor (tenured) of Political Science and Director of the Asian Studies Program at Utah State University (1994-2004).

Johan Harvard is the Global Lead for AI Advisory at the Tony Blair Institute, where he helps government leaders in harnessing AI for large-scale value creation. He has supported high-profile AI initiatives in countries such as the Philippines, Brazil, Rwanda and Sweden, helping governments move from pilot projects to full-scale, sustainable AI deployments.

 

Johan brings a blend of technical and policy expertise, shaped by his roles in both government and industry. As Vice-President of Strategic Advisory at Silo AI, Europe’s largest private AI lab, he led European engagements for large corporations on sovereign LLMs, safety-critical AI systems, and company-wide upskilling programs. Earlier, as Sweden’s government AI lead, he authored the country’s AI strategy, action plan, and championed EU-level cooperation on regulation and responsible AI.

 

At TBI, Johan focuses on leveraging AI in sectors such as healthcare, climate resilience, education, and government services. Drawing on TBI’s presence across more than 40 countries, he guides governments from AI vision to nationwide roll-out—tracking impact through citizen welfare, GDP gains, and strengthened digital sovereignty.

 

Bronwen Maddox 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bronwen Maddox took up the post of Director and Chief Executive of Chatham House in August 2022. Before joining Chatham House, Bronwen was Director of the Institute for Government (2016-2022), an independent think tank based in London promoting better government. From 2010 to 2016 she was editor and chief executive of Prospect, the monthly current affairs magazine. Before that, she served as chief foreign commentator, foreign editor and US editor at The Times, after a period at the Financial Times where she ran award-winning investigations and wrote economics editorials.

 

 

 

Yuan Gao

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Yuan Gao is the Founder & CEO of Pangura and Co-founder & CIO of N0S.Tech, with over 10 years’ investment and quantitative trading experiences in the City of London spanning both buy-side and sell-side institutions including Swiss Re, Fidelity and CICC. She leads Fundraising for N0S.Tech. She is also providing the agent based alpha generation solutions to N0S.Tech via Pangura.

 

Yuan has extensive experience with non-profit organisations. She is Vice President of Chinese Association of Financial Executives in the UK, a Freeman of the City of London, Secretary-General of the UK Tsinghua Association, and a founding board member of AGI Odyssey. 

 

Yuan earns her Ph.D. degree in Engineering from a collaboration project between Cambridge University and Newcastle University. She also holds a Master’s degree from Newcastle University, an MBA from the U.S. and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Tsinghua University.

 

 

 

Tracey Guinyard 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tracey Guinyard is a Global Outreach & Selections Officer at Schwarzman Scholars, a fully funded master’s program in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University in Beijing. In this role, she supports the identification and selection of future global leaders, fostering dynamic cohort each year.

 

Tracey brings extensive experience designing and leading talent development programs in global contexts. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Spelman College, as well as a Juris Doctor and a Master of Public Policy from The Ohio State University.

 

 

 

Karuna Nandkumar

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Karuna is the Head of Policy Programmes at the Oxford China Policy Lab. Her research focuses on Chinese foreign policy and diplomacy. Prior to OCPL, she worked on Indo-Pacific policy at the US Department of Defense in D.C. and coordinated US-China Track II dialogues with the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue in Beijing. She speaks Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, and French. She received her MA in Global Affairs as a Schwarzman Scholar at Tsinghua University and her BA in Public Policy from the University of Michigan.
